Two Belgian institutions, the Art & History Museum (MAH) and the Musical Instruments Museum (MIM), are world-renowned for holding outstanding pre-Columbian collections. Among these, we find a large number of musical instruments made of clay, metal or organic matter. Nevertheless, very little has been published regarding this impressive set of artifacts. The aim of this paper is to roll out a significant selection of Costa Rican sonorous terra cottas belonging to the globular (ocarinas) and tubular flutes types. Due to the fact that this corpus lacks any archaeological context and that the inventory forms include extremely fragmentary information, we will dedicate ourselves to suggest an ensemble of basic data on, among others, the culture, the geographical origin, the ceramic type, and the period. To this end, we will make use of stylistic and iconographic comparisons with instruments excavated in situ by archaeologists. It should be pointed out that we have not been able to link up some hitherto unknown items with previously documented musical instruments, what led us to suggest connections with ceramic types already defined. Furthermore, organological and acoustical analyses of the studied artifacts as well as anthropological information will also be included. The paper is structured as a series of commented inventory sheets.
